Towards demystifying the creativity of diffusion models

A Google Research paper published at ICLR 2026, "On the Interpolation Effect of Score Smoothing in Diffusion Models," explains that score smoothing makes generation interpolate between training data, shedding light on where diffusion models' creativity comes from.
